RECAP: Business Case for Resilience at New York Climate Week

This session took place on Monday, September 23, 2024 during New York Climate Week.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, together with Marsh McClennan and the Alliance for Global Water Adaptation, kicked off New York Climate Week on Resilience Day by convening a roundtable on the Business Case for Resilience. The event featured remarks from Dr. Sarah Kapnick, Chief Scientist of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and a fireside chat with Ann Shikany, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Policy, U.S. Department of Transportation, and Mayor Melissa Logan of Blytheville, AR and the Mississippi River Cities and Towns Initiative. Amy Barnes, Head of Sustainability and Climate Strategy at Marsh McLennan provided highlights of the company’s recent survey on resilience, including gaps in how companies perceive and respond to risk. AGWA’s Executive Director, John Matthews, highlighted tools and resources currently available to communities and companies for help build resilience.
